That clothing is not just about fashion but also cultural, environmental and social significance was quite apparent when models sashayed the ramp in Bhusattva’s unisex collection at the Lakme Fashion Week for Spring/Summer ’10.
According to Digvijay Singh (exclusive fashion designer for Bhusattva), the collection this year had 100 per cent organic cotton blended with natural fibers like cruelty-free silks, bamboos, flex, banana fibre and more. The unisex collection showcased in soft shades of yellow, green, purple, browns, grey, ash and wax all coloured with herbal dyes. This is the 2nd dress of the Candy Cane Dress Collection 2010 that I made for the Princess. She wanted an actual candy cane fabric for the bodice so I went out to a couple of fabric stores and can you believe nothing! I then remembered the shirt I bought for my husband years ago that he did not like and only wore once. It was perfect and of good quality cotton. The Princess wanted a sweetheart neckline with a halter top back. So I cut up the shirt and made it into a halter top. It is hard to see but I added two pleats on the bodice for a better fit and I think it added a nice design to the simple bodice. Read more…
