Fashion Fantasies

The Real Place For Your Fashion Dreams To Come True

The 2011 Oscar awards are here yet again, and what would a night on the red carpet be without some “best dressed” chatter.

Fashion designers, trendsetters, and stylistas around the world wait for this annual award event, which can set the tone in fashion for the rest of the year.  Here are my picks that made the list of 2011′s best academy award styles.

Mila Kunis of “Black Swan” wore one of my favorite dresses, designed by Elie Saab.

The light purple piece looked very light and feathery, and really slimmed down her body.

Although, the star did tell Ryan Seacrest that she had been on a 1200 calorie a day diet and worked out 5 hours a day recently.Russell Brand’s suit was so stylish this year.

The star attended with his mother wearing a navy blue skinny suit with black satin lapels.  He paired it with a skinny tie.  A perfect 10 for Russell!

Cate Blanchett took a gamble when she wore this Givenchy Couture gown.
It was very detailed and highlighted two splashes of bright yellow on the collar.

The high fashion piece pulled it off for the best dressed list and looked so “artsy” beautiful on Blanchett.Helen Mirren looked so exquisite in her cinched gown.

Dressed by Brit, Becks Welch, she wore everything so perfectly.

The actress appearance makes her look so young on the red carpet that I cannot believe she is 65! Can Read more…

Are you flaunting rip-offs?

I flaunt fake brands, therefore I cheat. As a US study comes to this conclusion, we scour flea markets to find out what bargain hunters think of the ‘cheater’ tag.

When Vithika Pandit walks into her college campus strutting her stuff — her D&G clutch, Prada shades and Rolex watch, to be specific — all eyes are on her. Compliment her on her impeccable taste and she gladly acknowledges it. It’s only when you probe her that she comes out with a confession (and a mischievous smile), “These are knock-offs! I picked up all of these from flea markets and if want to know the pocket pinch, well, I didn’t even cough up Rs 5,000 for the whole loot. Do Read more…

Outfit: Winter Boho Look

This season, it seems that ALL trends are in:

Minimalism (90s)
Neons (80s)
Flared jeans/boho (70s)

And speaking of boho, sometimes I wish this trend would go away, but in the end my hippie heart doesn’t seem to mind.

Let me explain. Ally’s Hippie Heart loves flared denim, leather with fringe, amazing 70s music by the Doors, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin. What emulating the 70s shouldn’t mean: not bathing, smoking copius amounts of pot, and general use of the word “man.”

Here is my current winter boho look…

Another Khan in the making

A Hansraj alumni and renowned model Daud Khann, who had gone to Mumbai for greener pastures, is back in Delhi. So what triggered the shift, we asked, and pat came the reply, “I wanted to be back home for sometime and be with my family.”

Daud who has been in the modelling industry for the last six years is soon making an entry into Tinseltown.

Daud says, “I had shifted to Mumbai because of my modelling assignments. During those days too I used to get a lot of offers for movies. But now that I have done enough of modelling and ramp shows, I feel it is the right time to get into acting, as acting too happens to be one of my passions. Recently I got an interesting film offer and I accepted it. Read more…

Left to right: Liam, Louis, Harry, Zayn, Niall

Since coming third in last year’s X-Factor competition One Direction have been lying low.

But with behind the scenes training Harry, Liam, Niall, Zayn, and Louis are now primed for a chart takeover.

And in spite of not yet having released an album, or indeed a single, a One Direction autobiography comes out today, entitled Forever Young.  Given their age, and lack of biography to speak of, it seems an appropriate, if somewhat ambitious, title.

The boys will be out in force, and armed with ink, signing fan copies of Forever Young up and down the country.

That’s certainly one way to keep their army of fans enthused. And with their debut single imminent, we expect an onslaught of

Now that New York’s Fall Fashion Week has come to a close, London’s Fall Fashion Week has arrived full force.
Topshop Unique, a branch of the UK’s coveted Topshop line, showcased a line adorably inspired by canines. The models’ hair and makeup was key to this animal effect: their hair was done up in double buns accented with black bows to mimic dog ears, and a few models even sported black paint on their noses for little canine snouts.
The fashion itself justified the look:
fur stoles, lots of black and white, spotted fur coats, and polka-dot dresses took a whole new spin on animal inspiration. U Read more…
