My Top 4 Clothing Picks for Spring

It’s almost spring, which means it’s time to whip out the spring/summer clothes and do a little shopping. I am blessed to have a spring birthday because I usually have the extra money to go spring shopping. Here is a list of my top store/clothing picks for spring/summertime!
Flip-Flops from Old Navy: Old Navy is my all time favorite place to buy flip-flops. They are comfortable and cost $3.50. You can get almost any color you want. Most of the colors come in a light shade and a dark shade too! I Read more…

After the news of Detroit’s shrinking population last week, many locals want a fashionable way to show off their Detroit pride.

A Dearborn based t-shirt company has developed a really cool design of the Detroit skyline and created customized shirts for those of us who are looking for a different way to represent the D (one that does not brand a Detroit team or sport logo.)

These “skyline” tees are $21 and come in both guy and girl versions.

They are made of really soft cotton and ship pretty quickly, so if you are looking for something to wear out in the city to a Tigers game or even to an upcoming concert, these are a good choice.  The women’s version come fitted too, which is nice if you prefer that style.

Public Threads has some other designs too, but the “Detroit” one is definitely my favorite because it has such a subtle look to it.

If you are looking for more types of clothing, another company designing cool Detroit wear is Ink Detroit, of Royal Oak.

Suneet Varma designs the longest sari

Suneet Varma has done it – he has entered Limca Book of Records by creating the world’s longest embroidered sari which is all of 55 metres. The ace designer has termed the recognition a ‘sweet surprise’. Varma, along with a team of eight designers and more than 55 artisans, created the 55 metre long and 45 inch wide sari in 10 weeks. The Delhi-based designer took inspiration from the mythological character Draupadi’s ‘chirharan’. It took 26,400 hours to complete the sari, which is priced at Rs.885,000. “Saris are my forte and I have always looked up to this five yard wonder as a canvas on which I can do interesting things. I like doing out-of-box things with it,” said Varma. Read more…

Coats for the spring

Every year winter seems to last longer and longer, but now there is a hint of hope as spring comes knocking on our door. Along with the joy of lighter days we also will have the fantastic task of finding a spring coat.

For many buying a new coat for the spring feels like a fresh start, a fresh new feel after the long, dark winter months. Others may opt to carry on using their winter coat and simply wear less underneath. But if you are a Joe Browns fan then you will find it very hard not to want to purchase one of their latest jackets for men.

Men sometimes find it hard to find suitable spring coats, as there are fewer options for them on the market. Read more…

Dear Chris Jericho,

The Village People called. They’d like their clothes back.

Call me crazy, but when I got a look at the pro-wrestler on last night’s season premiere of Dancing With the Stars, I couldn’t help but think of the iconic (and tres campy) disco-era singing group.

But no—Jericho insists he was inspired by Mel Gibson

Jericho says that after he and his pro-partner Cheryl Burke learned they would be dancing to The Clash classic ”Should I Stay or Should I Go,” he began thinking of an apocalyptic theme. “I

The Hello Baby Hat pattern is ready for you. I made it to go along with the Hello Baby Cardigan but it is just as cute on its own. The Strawberry Charm is optional but awfully cute if you choose to latch one on top of your hat.

Here is some information you might like to know about the hat:

Size: newborn to 3 months

Yarn: Spud & Chloë Sweater (55% superwash wool, 45% organic cotton; 160 yards/100 grams), 1 hank in Igloo #7517 for the cardigan and 1 hank (or a small amount) in Toast #7506 for the I-cord at the top of the hat

Note: I used the leftover Igloo from the Hello Baby Cardigan to make the hat.

Needles: US size 7 needles, 16-inch circular and a set of 4 double-pointed needles or size to obtain gauge

Note: I can comfortably fit 56 stitches around a 16-inch circular needle.
