Fashion Fantasies

The Real Place For Your Fashion Dreams To Come True

This is definitely exquisite tailoring with oomph. Paul Costelloe says the inspiration for his spring/summer 2012 collection is comes from the 1962 Hollywood classic Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? That may very well be, but we cant help to think of the dapper Mad Men and Michael Caine in 70s film Get Carter.

A new generation of aspiring eco-fashion designers heads back to school this week.

As the lazy days of summer end, a generation of aspiring fashion designers is heading to school to design the clothing of the future. While the field of fashion design is growing like never before, if an analogy was made between green fashion and the fitness industry—we’re only at the leg-warmer stage. Yet analysts predict that eco-conscious clothing will soon develop into a multi-billion-dollar industry.

Aspiring green fashion designers need training in sustainable fashion design, responsible manufacturing, eco-friendly materials, and how best to use resources such as organic cotton, wool, and recycled textiles. Its Read more…

Fashion might be a magic show, but don’t confuse the model with the magician.

That role belongs to the photographer, the art director, the person who lays the graphics down and around the beautiful people.

These behind-the-campaign people make the catalogs and ads that catch our eyes and capture our imagination. And, if all goes according to plan, they make us run to the stores, boutiques and websites to blow wads of money.

“Fashion is all about creating a fantasy world,” says fashion historian and Kent State University Museum Director Jean Druesedow.

Last Square

I am on the last square for my new stitch pattern Outer baby blanket. It is the squishiest, yummiest blanket I have made. I cant wait to get the squares together and put the border on.

Ill be back next week with the finished blanket and a video tutorial on the provisional cast on I used. You are going to love this technique. With the live stitches at the ends of each square, putting it all together becomes a whole new game with different options. The same goes for picking up to apply the border.

Comfort, support, and convenience are three simple characteristics behind a good sports bra, and it is so difficult to find them all in one design.

As a runner and avid exerciser, I have always tried to find the most fashionable sports bras to wear that had good practicality too, and I just have had a difficult time finding the the best of the best until now.

I love wearing Nike’s sports bras, (and they are still my second favorite on the list), but most of them are missing added functionality, although Nike bras are known to be long lasting.

Under Armour designs great bras for larger chest sizes, but again for the price, there is no added functionality feature.

So, let’s talk about the best sports bra available today.

Gracie’s Gear makes super cool and supportive sports bras with an extra function: zippered pockets!

The bras were designed by a marathon runner who never knew where to put her small items when she went out on a run.  Like many of us, I bet she tried to stuff her chapstick and keys in her shoes or socks, but was uncomfortable the entire time.

I first discovered these bras a few years ago, when they only sold two different styles.  Now, the small company from North Carolina has a better selection.

I actually ordered one a few weeks ago, and there was a delay in the shipment so they sent me their new design for free!

Some of the bras even have a loop hole fabric for your iPod’s/Mp3 player’s cord feed.  Genius!

Unofrtunately, Gracie’s Gear does not have any locations in Michigan which sell their tops, but you can get them online, and believe me, they have great customer service!

Brrrr.  Now that we are starting to feel the winter tingle in the air, it is time to layer up.

Take a look at some of the best outerwear options under $200 in stores and online today.  They are super stylish, and fitting for all types of body types.
