There have been so many celeb engagements and pregnancies this week that it’s been easy to forget that it’s not all hearts and flowers in January, and true to this, Keira Knightley and her boyfriend of 5 years have parted ways.

It seems that the strain of the media scrutiny finally took its toll on the couple, who met on the set of Pride and Prejudice in 2005.

There isn’t exactly the same rolling news style coverage as there is on the ailing relationship of Katie Price and Alex Reid, but apparently Keira’s dad has confirmed the split, saying that “that’s the way things go, unfortunately. The only option is to get on with things.”

We heartily agree, and it looks like Keira’s got plenty on her plate with an upcoming theatre appearance and several new film roles in the pipeline.
