It’s the drape for all seasons and this summer – the traditional Indian sari is going retro. Traditional Benarasi, jacquard, kota, cotton and jamdaani are high on the sari roster.
Antique textile collector Sobha Deepak Singh, the director of the Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra says of the sari movement, “It used to be a very niche segment, but with the sari being recognised as formal wear globally, more women are choosing it over Western-style evening dresses.”

Madonna is known for being a singing legend, a mother-of-four and a fashion icon?… Well, perhaps not the latter if these recent photos of her are anything to go by.
We caught the 52-year-old working a rather strange rolled up trouser leg with knee-high checked golf socks and a pair of trainers.
The Material Girl was on the set of her new film, W.E, resembling a would-be gangster rather than a professional film director.
Her whole outfit was a little mismatched consisting of jogging bottoms, a leather jacket, scarf and straw hat.
We can only think Madonna is so focused on making the film a success that her fashion sense has taken a back seat.
So, please don’t start rolling your trouser legs up, we’re not convinced this look will be catching on anytime soon!
The second sleeve is almost done! I should have the starting information for the top down raglan knitalong together by the end of the week. That means yarn amounts and other basic information you’ll need to work along. Plus you’ll want to swatch before starting to make sure you are getting the gauge for the project.
